Tennis Activities

Tennis Activities
The club runs teams in the summer, 3 mens and 3 ladies in the Bucks LTA shield competition, 3 in the High Wycombe District evening mixed league and 1 in the Aylesbury evening leagues.
In the winter there are a variety of teams. Contact the team captain if you would like to be selected.

Club nights are held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6pm onwards. Team match practice is on Monday’s from 7pm for men and Wednesday for ladies/mixed (see court availability). Internal tournaments for mens, ladies and mixed doubles as well as mens and ladies singles are held annually. Members are encouraged to participate in all the activities held but must be available to play on finals/championship finals days as appropriate. Other special Tournaments are held throughout the season with an emphasis on
on friendly and enjoyable tennis. Please refer to the schedule of events.

New Members
The club aims to encourage a competitive standard of tennis but not at the expense of the friendly atmosphere for which its reputation has grown. New members are welcomed at club evenings. If you would like to join or obtain further information on the club please contact Margaret Plummer.

Parent Members
This membership category is intended to encourage parents who wish to play with their children. It allows parents to play with their children during the week until 5pm or at any other times when the courts are free although full members do take priority. This membership does not allow parents to play together without their children.

Junior Members
Janet Jamieson is the Sunday junior coach and she is keen to help our children play tennis to their highest standard. This Sunday coaching is offered at an additional charge of £25 from 18th April to 18th July with the registration days on 18th & 25th April. Additional Junior sessions 5.30-7pm are held on Mondays with Paul Mason for an additional fee. Unsupervised Junior free court time is every weekday from 4-6pm.

Coaching- Senior Members
Senior Coaching at a fee will be run by Paul Mason on Thursday evenings 6-7pm and Saturday Mornings 9-11am. Please see Notice boards or the Web site for details.

Mini Tennis
Mini tennis is for children of 4 to 8 years and the club provides racquets and balls for these sessions which will be held on Sunday Morning from 18th April
Adult Education Tennis Courses
Run by Bucks C.C. for beginners & intermediates during term-time on Tuesdays from 9-11am.

Visitors
Members are welcome to bring visitors (maximum of 3 times a year) depending upon court availability. A fee of £2 for an adult and £1 for a junior must be paid immediately to a committee member.

100 Club
This gives a large contribution to club funds. For a £2 monthly direct debit or an annual charge of £24 there is a monthly draw for a prize of £25 (£50 twice yea
rly) Please contact Anne Pickard should you wish to join.

Club Development
The club has recently installed floodlights on 2 courts to enhance the amount of playing time throughout the year. Fees are £1 per person per hour for doubles and £2 per person per hour for singles.

Rules
1) Proper tennis shoes must be worn to protect the court surface. We also request recognised tennis clothing be worn.
2) Please respect the courts and the clubhouse, remember to slacken the nets after use.
3) Please retrieve all balls.
4) Subscriptions must be paid promptly.
5) Please observe court etiquette at all times.

Keys
Keys to the clubhouse are available to senior members from Margaret Plummer at cost (approx £4).

Balls
The club provides free balls for club night play. At other times there are used balls available in the clubhouse or alternatively new balls may be obtained from Chris Collins at a price £5.00 for 4.

Wimbledon Tickets
The club is very fortunate to be allocated six pairs of Wimbledon tickets each year. There is a draw for these in May and all members have an equal chance of being able to purchase them. Please note that the tickets must be used by the recipient only and are under no circumstances to be sold or given away. Please see the club notice board for details.

Juniors are welcome to play unsupervised on everyday except mondays

Tuesday and Friday evenings from 6pm are designated "Club Nights". Tennis balls are provided by the club and the method of arranging "fours" is described in the clubhouse.

NB In Winter, floodlit club nights take place on Tuesday evening from 6:30pm.

On these evenings you can be assured of a varied amount of tennis regardless of your own standard. All attendees mix in and play some form of Doubles before mixing again to play with different people.

All senior members are encouraged to support these evenings and junior members who have attained a sufficient standard may be invited to participate.

Singles play is available when court space permits.

Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the Clubhouse.

Floodlit courts are bookable on other evenings, see the schedule in the clubhouse.
